National Capital Educational Tourism Project

The National Capital Educational Tourism Project (NCETP) is a joint initiative of the ACT Government and the National Capital Attractions Association (the body representing all 35 National Capital Attractions). The NCETP has been formed to assist schools in understanding the educational benefit of a visit to the National Capital and encouraging more to take the opportunity to visit for the first time.

We are currently undergoing a redesign of this website to ensure it continues to provide accessible and relevant information for all teachers planning excursions to the National Capital. In the meantime we are committed to providing you with the following information and documents.

Parliament & Civics Education Rebate (PACER)

The Parliament and Civics Education Rebate (PACER) provides a subsidy for students from years 4 to 12 visiting Canberra as part of the civics and citizenship education. If you are planning a school excursion to Canberra and wish to apply for the rebate, please download the PACER Guidelines and Application form (as amended with effect from 1 July 2008). Please read the Guidelines carefully as conditions apply to payment of the rebate.

Please forward this form along with a copy OF THE PROPOSED ITINERARY for travel to the NCETP. Contact details included on form.

For further information call the NCETP on 1300 368 248

Public Liabilities & Risk Assessment

There have been concerns raised by teachers and education departments regarding public liability insurance and risk management in relation to school excursions. To assist you in your planning and to reassure you that the National Capital is one of the safest destination for school groups information on these issues are posted on this website to cover most properties in the National Capital that are visited by schools.
